Things to consider are how long to let hair grow on specific parts of your dogs body so that they do not grow too close to the skin, which could cause your dog to get clipped, and which attachments a professional groomer uses for his clients. Well, obviously, if the answer was just cut hair, nobody would have asked about how it is done; but since every dog type has its own particular method of grooming, some might only require hair brushes every few weeks; whereas others would really require trimming every two months, and--well, you get my point.   Remember, each hair that you are able to manage to get off of your pet is one less hair that you have to clean. Clean fur is easier to trim, and a bath will get rid of any dirt or debris stuck to the dogs coat that might be caught by the clippers.
